Help Support Our Community Facing a Food Hardship This November

Yesterday afternoon, our Lead Representative Payee, Karen Cramer, shared an important message on Facebook — and we’re asking for your help to spread the word and support our community.

At The Arc of Bay County, we serve about 180 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Many of the people we support are unable to work, do not have access to transportation, and rely on food assistance programs to meet their daily needs.

Unfortunately, with SNAP benefits on hold for the month of November, many of our clients will be facing serious food insecurity. This situation places a tremendous burden on them — and on our organization — as we do everything we can to ensure that no one goes hungry.

How You Can Help

We’re asking our community to come together and help us provide simple, easy-to-make foods that our clients can prepare safely and independently. Many of our clients rely on microwavable or instant meals, as they may not have the ability or equipment to cook full meals.

Items that are especially helpful include:

  • Easy Mac or other instant macaroni cups

  • Ramen noodles

  • Instant oatmeal packets

  • Instant rice bowls

  • Instant soup mixes

  • Canned fruits and vegetables

  • Canned meals like ravioli or Spaghetti O’s

Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference.

If you prefer, cash donations are also gratefully accepted and can be made:

  • In person at our office:
    The Arc of Bay County
    709 Columbus Avenue
    Bay City, MI 48708

  • Online at www.arcbc.com

Our Plan

Our staff and volunteers will hand-deliver food donations directly to clients who need them most. Together, we can help ease this difficult time and make sure our neighbors have what they need.

Thank you for your generosity, compassion, and continued support of The Arc of Bay County and the individuals we serve.

With gratitude,
Annette Jeske, M.S.A.
